If you are arriving from any of the three airports or ports on the island (Chania, Heraklion, or Sitia), you have several convenient options to reach our villas.

By Car: Coming with your car by ferry or renting a car at the airport is a convenient way to explore the island and reach our villas. The scenic drive from Chania or Heraklion to Finikidia offers breathtaking views of Crete’s diverse landscapes.

From Chania, take the road to Rethymnon and then head south towards Agia Galini.

From Heraklion, drive towards Mires and then follow the signs to Agia Galini.

The journey takes approximately 2-3 hours depending on traffic and the route you choose.

By Bus – Public Transportation: While buses are a reliable option for traveling around Crete, services to the southern part of the island are less frequent.

You can take a bus from Chania or Heraklion to Agia Galini, which is the closest major town to Finikidia.

From there, you may need to arrange a local taxi or private transfer to reach our villas.

The bus journey from Heraklion to Agia Galini typically involves a change in Mires or other local towns.

Taxi or Private Transfer: For a more direct and hassle-free journey, consider booking a taxi or private transfer service from the airport to our villas.

This option is especially convenient if you are traveling with a group or prefer not to drive.

Companies offer transfers from both Chania and Heraklion airports to South Crete.

We value health above all, so please note that our setting in Finikidia – Agios Pavlos of Rethymnon is a quite remote location.

Therefore, guests should carry all necessary supplies in case of special dietary needs or other personal provisions required throughout their stay.

The nearest medical facilities include general practitioners and specialists located in Spili, approximately 30 minutes away by car. This health center is well-equipped to manage various medical emergencies and routine care. It operates clinics specializing in pediatrics, pathology, surgery, and other fields on a 24-hour basis, making it particularly suitable for urgent medical needs.

Mires and Timbaki are the second closest options after Spili in terms of distance, offering access to many doctors who speak English and other languages. For emergency cases, the Mires Health Centre serves as the nearest point of contact, while hospitals in Heraklion are available for more severe situations. In case of an emergency, dial 166 to request an ambulance.

Beyond Finikidia, Rethymno offers a range of healthcare services. The city is home to the Asklipios Private Hospital, a modern diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical center that provides comprehensive medical care. Additionally, the Rethymno Medical Office offers general practice services, emergency medicine, and specialized consultations, including orthopedics and pediatrics. They are located in Adelianos Kampos and the center of Rethymno, providing 24/7 medical assistance.

For pharmacy services around Finikidia, you can find local pharmacies in nearby towns like Spili, Agia Galini and Mires. These pharmacies are well-stocked with essential medications and are open during regular business hours.

Whether you’re looking for groceries, pharmacy items, cigarettes, or other essentials, Spili has everything you might require during your stay.

Agia Galini, another nearby town, is about 13 km from Finikidia. It offers additional shopping options and a picturesque fishing harbor, making it a great place to explore.
